For caffeine in espresso, is it right to think that it has more than what we get in coffee?
I know you're here to search for a simple "yes" or a "no" but let's look at the caffeine content of each drink first. This should help us further understand the difference between the content of caffeine in espresso against that of your regular coffee.I suggest you refer to our Caffeine content comparative table (opens in another window) so you can us it as a guide and easily compare. Well, the caffeine content seems to be the same right? Yes, but we have to consider that caffeine varies by brewing method and the types of coffee beans used. Arabica beans contains half the caffeine that Robusta beans have. A big part of the content would depend on the beans your coffee shop use. Another reason why the caffeine content seems to be identical is because when making a single serving of espresso and brewing a 6-ounce cup of brewed coffee, about the same amount of beans (in terms of weight) are used. So, my espresso loving friends, the answer to our question is no. It's not right to think that caffeine is more in a serving of espresso than a serving of coffee. The next time you need your caffeine in drinks like a caffe latte or a cappuccino, remember that because these drinks are diluted in milk it would likely contain less caffeine than the same volume of black brewed coffee. If you really need to get your caffeine fix, I suggest going for your regular black coffee. Or if you really want an espresso, you may just double your shot. You can also add another shot to you latte or other coffee and espresso based drinks. Just remember, as much as we love coffee, don't overdo it. We don't want you gong through caffeine withdrawal when you forget to take your coffee.
